Day trip to Essaouira, the magic of Mogador

Overview

Visit the historic port city of Essaouira on a day trip from Marrakech, and spend the day exploring the traditional medina, full of gorgeous architecture, and Morocco’s laid-back beachfront culture. We’ll see how argan oil is extracted and visit the medina of Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a 1.5-hour drive, you’ll take a 15-minute break.

The second stop will be at a small argan oil cooperative run by local women to learn how argan oil is extracted and used, with the option to buy oil directly from producers before continuing to Essaouira.

Once in Essaouira, you’ll have free time to explore the old medina and beautiful city walls, including the Sekkala, the old port, and the fish markets, at your leisure and enjoy a seafood lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, you can walk along the beautiful beach and take some photos of this beautiful sandy beach before heading back to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
